Inferior testing and programming on the platform, they used all sorts of unsupported methods for DRM etc and that played out nastily when Vista was released with a version or two of iTunes that completely chewed the OS if you installed it then plugged in your iPod. All the services and unneeded rubbish that iTunes installs does not help either, Bonjour etc.

I know that iTunes runs fine on a Mac but will bog down a PC massivly for no apparent reason, there is a huge quality gap between the two versions.

Lately I am starting to believe that.

TBH, and this may sound strange, I'd rather have something well built but with suicide chips, than have an inferior product and a manufacturer who refuses to accept it was badly made.

If they have to put a kill switch in it... surely it means it's too damn good. [Not going to break, fit for purpose, future-proof/resistant]
