Recommendations for modern laptops downgradable to XP?
Hi,
Just looking for laptop recommendations which could be downgraded to XP.
Has anyone managed downgrade a laptop recently to XP Pro with out any problems? Some laptops just wont run xp, whether its the drivers aren't available or the SATA on the BIOS wont let you change to IDE mode etc etc.
Were looking at getting some laptops for the next school year for our Art dept to run Adobe CS4, Internet browsing and general network use. Laptops will be connected to network via wireless or good old fashioned plugged in!
Thanks,
Dean

20th June 2011, 02:51 PM #2 We bought some HP ProBook 6560b's recently. They have XP drivers on the HP site, so downgrade ok.
They're Intel i5's with 4GB RAM, so should be specced very well for your needs.
They're definitely not cheap though, they're now around £800. We got them a month or so ago, and they were about £600 then!

Brill, thanks for your reply, they look ideal, though a bit pricey, I will have a look into some other Hp's and see if they have the drivers online.
Thanks alot.
