Picture hosting online - access in school

I ahve been approached by the Media department because as part of their coursework they need to upload and host blogging including hosting pictures.

Can you lot recommend picture hosting sites that are good, i know some are going to be blocked but we can look into unblocking them later, so to start...

    Photobucket
    Picasa

Could you not install a WordPress setup on your schools domain or something? Give them access to that and give you full control over it?

Just a suggestion. There are some nice plugins available for it for hosting image galleries / portfolios and the like.

Flickr seems an obvious choice to me... although there is a 200 picture limit per free account, I'd have thought that'd be ample though

I would set up something internal, even have it running on a subfolder of the school website if they want external access, just so you have compleate control of it really, im sure there is a php blogging script available somwhere

    I'd recommend Gallery or Coppermine.

might be worth a browse of this thread :

    Storage of Photos

Razuna is WordPress friendly apparently and might be suitable if you're thinking of an internally hosted solution :

Wordpress, Digital Asset Management, Open Source, Media Asset Management, Software, Systems, System, DAM, Solution

If hosting externally, are you likely to have any e-safety/Data Protection issues? Section 97 kids spring to mind as a potential issue if you have any students in this category.
