    Which satellite provider?

    Sky: Does
    Freesat: Does (AKAIK)
    Virgin: Does

Not sure about any (if there are any) others

If you have a sky box and dish, no subscription to any services and no freesat card, you don't get channel 5.

So what channels do you get then? I always thought that other providers were obligated to provide the 5 terrestrial services...

There is an FTA version of 5 on Astra, but you would need to manually tune it on a Sky box with no card. I understand that this version occasionally doesn't show what the main C5 is showing because of rights issues.

I get BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 (and various +1's), Channel 4, E4, other's to do with "4", and a boat load of other channels too. Don't get any Sky1 or Sky 2, or Dave (). You may be correct in that providers have to provide channel 5, but I'm not using any providers as such. It's simply a dish with an old sky box plugged in to it.

I stick with freeview - more channels including 5 on the freeview - the freeview sky is awful - I have had my sky box plugged in for months and it's been on standby and I'm going to unplug it.
