I've ticked polished shoes, but have just taken them off, and "socks" isn't an option. Used to buy Clarks but they all died within the year, so I splashed a bit more cash on something a bit nicer, and so far, better wearing 18 months ago. They have been soled and heeled, but basically still sound.

If doing lots of lifting of big stuff, or spending time in the workshops, I do have a cheap pair of toe-cap trainers under the desk.

I used to wear smart black shoes all the time at work, but then I found in the M&S Sale just before BETT a REALLY nice pair of smart black boots, these are not your Doc Martins type but ones that you can wear with a suit and looks fine and I've had them ever since BETT and they are great and the most comfy footwear I've had in years! I do still have a pair of smart shoes but have not even worn them in that much yet as the boots are winning now

When doing more heavy duty work its either trainers or Timberland Safety Boots

Currently shabby, capped boots past their prime. Looking at getting some new ones. Never got on with shoes, always found they rubbed my ankles and twisted my ankles in them. Get nice boots and most can't tell the difference if you keep them shined.

I wouldn't dare... I'd fall off them... and if I wore them that would make me about 6'2"; I'm tall enough already!

My work shoes are a pair of comfy black leather M&S footglove shoes that I can wear all day in total comfort. Not very glamourous, but in a school with as many hills and stairs as ours, very necessary!

I get through polished shoes so bloody quickly, I now walk to work in trainers and leave my shoes under my desk.

    Sandals, and socks of course!

P.S. Am I the only one who spells them this way - must be my dyslexia?

I normally wear like a canvas sand shoe/ninja slipper. The only downside to them is the lack of protection if anything gets dropped on them and also if I'm on my feet all day running around like a blue-bottomed fly then mild blisters do sometimes occur.
