I would complain to your Account manager, you shouldn't need to be ringing India direct anyway, either they should ring you through the corporate system which will direct you back to them or you should have a central number to ring that will put you through.

Though the instant I saw an out of country number I would ignore it.

i thought the 0845 number would redirect to india if it wasn't picked up by uk after so many rings or you were on hold for X amount of minutes

In their defence, RM India never ask you to call them. They always take your number through the call notes and ring you back. If you want to speak to somebody then the UK number will direct you to the owning engineer, or a suitable engineer, if you ring the call handlers.

I think RM have a call centre in Glasgow (or somewhere in Scotland) and when the call isn't answered you are transferred through to India. If you log a support call online rather than over the phone it goes directly to India too, but if you call up, the call then gets transferred back to UK.

RM did actually deny to us they had a call centre in India until I pointed out that of the 40 names I have on support calls, all are Asian (yes I know, not enough to prove it) but also when talking to them you get a 3 second delay between talking. They eventually admitted they outsourced to India when the UK centre is too busy

All UK calls to the 0870 number are picked up in the UK I've found. Online calls are, as you say, picked up usually by RM India. This is usually obvious by the names or the email address they provide. (name@in.rm.com)

Office locations are also here: http://www.rm.com/Generic.asp?cref=GP3891&Page=Contact - they're quite open about it on there.

I think if it rings for too long without answer, or you get put on hold and wait for about 5 mins on hold, you are transferred to India to ask if you wish to continue to stay on hold or if they can arrange for a call back from them or help in resolving it.

But you shouldn't be picking up the difference, they will as they set up the call forward.

oh yeah, sorry, wasn't arguing that. I never had to call any other number other than the main support number when I used them

RM have 3 call centres, One in Didcot (in what is known as the hanger), one near Glasgow and then one in India. Main numbers are answered by the UK centres but if issue then any call centre can take over. So last year when snow hit Scotland they shut-down Glasgow centre and all calls where taken by Didcot and India as fall back.

As for call back certainly in my experience when RM India left a message they left uk phone number in the voicemail.

Other than some language issues and the fact that they all seem to be called Steve its no different that calling Glasgow. (saying that I struggle to understand some of their thick accents too!)

I have noticed a lot of re-branding and outsourcing, they are not in financial difficulty are they?
