OK this might be a strange question to ask but where if you had to do for work (in IT Preferably) would you relocate too ? - I'm stuck in Hull and having no luck with jobs at all, Hull just isnt a technical place to live, and me and the wife would like out move out of Hull anyway but preferably stay in Yorkshire.
I dont mind commuting but having no drivers license doesn't help at times, I need to get working and get a wage in order to get my test passed, I have looked at other job sectors here and about and still having no luck.
At the moment we dont have to stay for the baby, they arn't old enough to be in school yet to thats not going to be a problem.
So where would you go ? I was thinking Lincolnshire as there seems to be quite a few jobs there ?
Anybody else's thoughts and opinions ??????????
Thanks

4th May 2011, 09:30 AM #3 lincolnshire for the most part is still in the sticks.
nottinghamshire or derbyshire are more urban and have better commuter links

Canada.
In all seriousness, it all depends on how much it'll cost, how far it is and how much the job pays.

4th May 2011, 09:33 AM #5 what about the obvious leeds/bradford/wakefield you should even as a tempary measure be able to get trains to them from hull without too many issues

4th May 2011, 09:36 AM #6 You can get trains from Hull to Leeds, but not affordably. A 7 day season ticket is £88!

4th May 2011, 09:54 AM #7 Yes it is not cheap by a long shot this is why I was wanting to move. Problem is with Hull at the moment it's not a very pleasant place to live and also Hull is at the end of the motorway and it goes no where - so no new companies want to come in so jobs don't come up very often. It's OK commuting but can be very expensive.

4th May 2011, 10:05 AM #8 If you currently live in Hull, Leeds might be an option to re-locate to.
Half decent public transport and has probably more jobs than Hull. There seems to be a lot of call centre jobs to get money in until you find an IT job.

4th May 2011, 10:07 AM #9 I live the other side of the bridge (Grimsby) and suffer here, there are some jobs that come up on the south bank industries but they are rare. The bulk of the jobs around here are either Leeds or down to Peterborough, both are places I would not want to commute to each day. If you are looking to move I would look the Leeds way if I am honest.
