    Thank you Virgin customer services

    Well this is a surprise. Our cable modem decided, after a week of hiccups, to kick the bucket this morning with random flashing lights and some not on at all. A quick call to Virgins customer services, had me quickly reboot it (well, they would wouldn't they!) and them attempt to contact it externally with no success. A dead modem was diagnosed and an engineer allocated to swap it out. And how long do we have to wait? 3 hours
    No convoluted fault finding, no patronising questions just a damned quick service that, to be frank, I wasn't expecting.
    Anyway, well done Virgin. I just hope it will be like that next time I ring!

    Awesome!! To be honest I have never had an issue with there customer services team... Always seem to be really helpful but then again I never have any problems with Speed/Connectivity.

    Well, they arrived bang on midday and swapped out our failed modem (it was a long-in-the-tooth Motorola device that looked as if it was made from Bakelite) for a brand new Netgear 'n' wireless cable router. Nice. Just retired my old Edimax router and having a new 2-in-one device will save on the 'leccy' too

    Thats better than my 18 calls and 16 engineers the last time i had a problem. We ended up having the cable from the cab in the street to the router replaced, a new router and some adjustments of the signal strength finally sorted it.

    Brilliant CS from them Don't ever try leaving them, took me 5 weeks and numerous phone calls to solve that one! I'm about to embark on attacking Talk Talk Business over my continually failing Internet at home.....

    If it's the new black jobby labelled "VMDG280" then make damned sure you turn off the SPI firewall unless you fancy a lifetime of crap performance with it

    Mine was so bad, i've had to shift DHCP from it to one of my servers to improve the reliability of the unit and stop it crashing.

    Nice. I've never had too much of a problem with them but neighbours step dad is a VM CS engineer so i just tend to bob next door and get him round.
