    What headphones?

I currently use some Sony MDR-EX85LP In ear headphones, they are ok but lack something. I think they are the model I have, they were only £15 I think.

I use them for running so need to fit well and I don't like big ones for out and about.

Could I realistically improve on those for say £40 budget? If so what do you guys recommend?

I would like bass and good mid but prefer a subtle less harsh treble.

i use sennheiser cx300II would seem to fit you'r bill. mine came with 3 different size rubber inserts for different size ears. good overall frequency response at a reasonable output level. I use them as in ear monitors when drumming and they keep up with my thrash metal playing, so they can go to a painful volume.

only bad thing is the cable is not an even split, its a round the neck job with one earphone longer than the other.

Before I got a set of (probably) unrelated ear infections, I had a pair of these: Sennheiser Worldwide - MM 50 iPhone which seemed pretty good to me.You can get them for around £40.

I use these: http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser...e_music_504164 now but if you're out and about running I guess they're not much use to you!

Sennheisers again, specifically the CX300 II Precision ones. I had some and they were awesome. They block pretty much all external noise which is great for ignoring the wife/girlfriend/mother etc... I'm going to get some today, just had to wait to get paid first. eBay are cheapest but beware fakes, there are loads kicking about. Should only cost about £10-£20 from eBay. Anywhere else, probably about £25-£35.

On the other hand W H Smiths have a half price sale on a couple of headphones currently. Not sure what the make is but I picked up a pair of the in ear type (with 3 different sized buds) for under a tenner. They have an even cable length too. They do the job for me.

I doubt it. Would you want to put a pair of in-ear headphones which untold numbers of random people had jammed into their ears? I wouldn't!

I'd avoid these on ebay, lots of fakes about. Get em from amazon for £18 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-C...3380016&sr=1-3

    Great headphones

Also please be careful when running with these, especially near roads. I've nearly hit so many idiots who don't look when crossing the street who have headphones in and don't realize a car is coming.

While that's true, there were also a whole load of fakes on Amazon and Play.com at one point so there still maybe some kicking about. Best way to find out whether theres a chance of the item being a fake, is to read the negative feedback (if there's anything that puts the validity of your item in doubt, then avoid that seller).

Latest update: They've arrived and look to be genuine. Sound genuine. For £11 I'm one happy camper.
