My faithful Canon Ixus v2 has finally bitten the dust after many years sterling service and I now find myself in need of a new camera. I have a max budget of £150 but ideally would like to spend about £100 or less if possible and as I haven't looked at cameras for a long time I was wondering if any of you guys had any recommendations.

Go for another canon, they're top notch. You'd get another ixus for around that money i'd say, or one of the powershots if you are not bothered about size. I have an ixus and a digital rebel slr, both great cameras, you should have seen the pics I got with the ixus in Kenya... for a compact they are unbelievable.
I had a Canon IXUS 500 - great camera albeit a couple of years old but I had it stolen when in Thailand over Xmas.
I'm looking to buy a new one and was looking at the Casio Exilim range
I have thought about another canon but just wondering f there was anything else available that was good.
Edit:
Have just had a look at the prices for the Ixus range and they seem to start at about £170 which is above my budget.![]()

Sony Cybershots are good cameras, we use them at work as they seem good.

Sonys have the distinct disadvantage of using memory stick - which is much more costly than SD. I'd seriously hang on until you can afford the extra 20 notes or whatever for the Ixus, or go with the canon powershot, though they're not quite as diddy as the ixus they are good cameras.

I don't find the memory sticks much more expensive now than SDs etc. I don't always get genuine Sony sticks, but I got a 2GB one for my mobile phone and it was about £6 for a Sony one so thats not bad.
£6? Where from? I need some!

eBay my friend, eBay is a good friend of mine and has served me well, if you hit auctions ending at stupid times either during working hours or wee small hours of the morning you can get some great bargins! Like 8GB HP Proliant ML370 G5 Memory for £12Bargin of the month! and it was genuine HP Spares!
Anyway the seller I got my memorysticks from has since de-registered but ebay search will help.
EDIT - 7dayshop seem to have some large sticks not badly priced - http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/defa...o=SEARCH&comp=
Many thanks. Perhaps it is time to install Bid-O-Matic at work too....
I've been looking at the Fuji A610 as one the schools I work for has a couple of the A600's and they seem to be ok. Also the A610 can use SD as well as the horrible XD cards.
