Must have been car jacking at lights etc or house break in and keys. Actually breaking into the car and trying to steal is impossible on say number 3.

Tracker is expensive, thats why all the cars on the list are expensive. I bet the top few still includes Vauxhall Corsa, Nissan Micra really.

We've had a spate of thefts of cars like this in our area - they either fish through the letterbox for the keys if they're in reach on a table in the hallway or break in at night to search for the keys whilst the owners are asleep upstairs, but in a few incidents they've just smashed the front door in and demanded the keys. One of the many reasons I've always gone for a low value unappealing drive. I used to have a porsche when I was a young idiot (as opposed to the old idiot I am now) and flogging insurance for a living but got sick of it getting keyed.

I learned a long time ago, if they want to steal a car, they will! If they want my car so bad as to break into my house, while I'm asleep, they better not wake me up!![]()

My brother leaves his key in his bike in the garage. I asked him why, and he replied if they want my bike bad enough, they are going to get it. I'd rather them ride it straight off then break into the house looking for the key where they could possibly harm his family.

Compare that list to 2005 -
- Vauxhall Belmont
- Vauxhall Astra Mk2
- Ford Escort Mk3
- Austin/Morris Metro
- Vauxhall Nova
- Ford Orion
- Rover Metro
- Austin/Morris Maestro
- Austin/Morris Montego
- Ford Fiesta Mks1, 2 and 3
Recession? What recession?

This MSN article sheds a fairer light on it. As has been said, cars with Tracker fitted tend to be higher end models. The reality is more as we suspected: Most stolen cars in the UK

That's it, I'm off to buy a Ford Transit![]()

The one person that TRIED to steal my mums car (whilst I was driving it, with a policeman friend of mine), ended up with a sprained wrist as I wrist locked his knife hand, and smashed it against the door frame. He was then arrested later that day as he tried to carjack an unmarked police car!

I want one of these: New limited-edition Ford Transit SportVan in white

When I was a kid we had a Mini Metro that was nearly stolen. It was broken in to, started, and ended up abandoned no further than 100 yards down the side street where we lived at the time. It was the old grey-and-yellow Crook Lock that prevented them getting away.
