How difficult is it to update you engine number with the DVLA?
How difficult is it to update you engine number with the DVLA?

Apparently with motorbikes at least DVLA have been letting people change numbers with no questions asked which has lead to bikers have all the paperwork but a stolen engine.
Ben
Done it year ago and it was just a case of putting the details on the relevant section of the Log book form (the one you get when you purchase the car) and sending to them. May have of course changed since then. Does it not say on the DVLA site?

Information Here: Changing your vehicle details on your registration certificate : Directgov - Motoring
Just Update your Car Registration Certificate and send it off with evidence:
One of the following:
- a receipt for the replacement engine
- written evidence from the manufacturer
- an inspection report provided for insurance purposes
- written confirmation on headed paper from a garage if the change in engine size took place before you bought the vehicle
.
James.
I have a receipt but no engine number on it.

I just sent back my V5 with the new engine number written in the alteration box, and the updated V5 came back a week later.
I didn't send them anything else. That was about 2 years ago, though. Maybe things have changed.

I need to change the address at the end of the month (I do own the address now) do I do every thing in one go or separate?
