    Campsite Help!

Okay, I want to get away on May 27th (Friday until Monday - 3 nights) with the missus and the dog. I'm sick of looking at UKCampsite, and other camp site search sites, so could someone please recommend me a campsite within a couple of hours (strictly) of Durham. Durham, Northumberland, Cumbria, North Yorkshire are all possibilities.

I need a site that allows the dog, a big tent, and electric hookup for the tent (the missus would go crackers if she couldn't use her straighteners!). I don't want to pay top dollar either, and we prefer a quiet site. If there's a pub on site, or within walking distance that's a plus. Also, we might be joined by my brother, wife, and niece for one night so child friendly would be essential too.

    Any recommendations?

Might be a bit out of your way but I can recommend SkireThorns Wood Nook campsite at Threshfield just outside Grassington. Has some great walks up out at the back.

Been there a few times (camping and caravanning) and it's a nice site. Nice people run it.

Been a while since I used it, but Waterside House: A Lake District Campsite on Ullswater is a nice little site on the shore of Ullswater, some lovely walks in the area, and some great pubs not too far away .. Can highly recommend the food and beer at Pooley Bridge Inn and The Sun Inn too ..

With it being a bank holiday, that site is going to cost £28 per night with EHU! No good I'm afraid

That's right on the 2 hour mark, according to Google Maps so that is within the distance. Price looks about right, and it has a playground so ticks all the boxes. Just sent them an email to see if they have availability

Ah well, still a nice one to consider for the future .. I'd offer you to camp in my field, but we don't have amenities outside, EHU and all that .. lol .. (I'm on the Yorkshire borders in Colne just off Kelbrook Moor .. lol) .. though there is a lovely pub just over the hill ..

When I said within 2 hours, I meant I was driving an Astra, not a Bugatti!

You haven't seen the Astra's round here then!!
In fact, you hear them then just see a streak of colour as it passes by...

The damn things could outrun one of the new EuroFighters!!

Just had email off them, and they only do 5-night minimum stays, so no good. Will definately give it a look over summer, but now I need another suggestion please.

I'll have a think. We've stayed in a few in Yorkshire over the years.

Just found a Ripley campsite in Harrogate, and at £21.50 for a night with EHU and the dog, it's around our price mark. Have you been to this one (or anyone else been to this one for that matter?)?

Try the Wild Rose Campsite at Appleby.

It's a while since I stayed there but it was a good site a mixture of statics and touring plus an area for campers.
