I'm looking to buy a camcorder but am unsure of what format to buy?
I'm leaning towards hard drive rather than tape or disk.
Does anybody have any wisdom that may stop me buying a lemon?
Can anybody recommend anything?

I'm liking the look of the direct to DVD models - as i've spent all week mastering DVDs for Drama!![]()

Look out for the 3CCD models rather than thesingle ones so that you get a decent looking picture. I believe Panasonic, Sony and Canon are about the best available... it depends on how healthy your wallet is mind!![]()

I would think twice about the DVD ones, especially if you are wanting to edit the footage, I find a true DV one is fair better and easier to edit than a DVD one. I have both and before loaning them out I ask are you going to want it editing (by either me or them) or not, if the answer is no editing just to put on dvd and show back then they get the DVD one, if they say editing they get a DV based one
