Other than for the personal gain of relevant qualifications, if you already run your support along the Becta/FITS guidelines, is there anything practical to be gained from going through the courses?
Cheers.

Meeting with The FITS Foundation later today so will ask that very question.
It is worth pointing out that the recent Becta procurement framework, which was picked up and continued by the Dept of Education, for ICT Services does include references to standards in ICT. This is why The FITS Foundation now have the accredited service provider status. The framework is aimed at LAs, Academy groups or those looking to be academies, those looking to set up free schools and those procuring services for maintained schools. Ok ... everyone, basically.
I know a number of local schools who are looking to make their support of feeder schools more of a traded service and so my recommendation to them (and school looking who to buy support from) will shortly be to look for accredited status or other relevant standards (eg ISO 20000).
