    Cumbria County Council job evaluation

CCC have provided schools with a list of who should get paid what, in relation to their job description.

The head has told me that I'm getting overpaid, seriously overpaid.
As yet though, he hasn't given me the document to prove / disprove it.

He's assured me that a pay cut isn't on the cards, but upping my resposibility is (don't know how, I'm the only technician here!).

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this document?

You have to bare in mind that it the wages are based on an average of everyone elses in the same position. So if you are getting paid a wage which is almost the industry average, but above that which is the pittance that some schools pay. Because the rest of the school or council techies are getting payed a pittence they assume that you should be too.

I accept that I'm on a quite good wage, but not compared to teachers!
Part of my role is to go to our partner school in South Africa every year... I bet there aren't a lot of NM's do that!

I would also suggest that you compare your actual job description with what the head thinks is your job description. Compare this to the Becta competencies framework thingy and you will probably find that you're getting paid too little

Yes unfortunately the nature of BECTa allows schools management to cherry-pick the bits they want that benefit them, and ignore the ones the bits they don't like.

Another guideline document is provided by ACITT at http://acitt.digitalbrain.com/acitt/...ob%20specs.zip

@Midget: Indeed, these documents are purely guidelines and it is not a case of the school having to follow them. However, you CAN use the document to show what level you are working at in order to justify your wage.

I suspect that if Stewart is being paid significantly more than the average, he is working at level C/D rather than level B and that his job title simply does not reflect this.

I'm working at C/D and employed as B. As I'm the only person here, if I don't do it noone will and nothing will work
