I personally think the Japanese technicians should be applauded in regards to how well they have managed this situation. That would not make the news though would it ?

A news story such as: "Engineers prevent Nuclear Disaster" doesn't sell as many newspapers as: "Japan's radiation nightmare: Third explosion at nuclear plant raises cancer fears as 140,000 told 'seal yourself indoors' "

The latter is direct from the Daily Fail. FFS.

Leave the Mail anlone. If it wasn't for The Mail, The Guardian and The Sun all of the decent newspapers would sell out before I got to the newsagents!

...even more so when you consider that it is highly likely that they will have friends and family who have been seriously affected (or even killed) by the tsunami!

    Very brave people indeed

The source was actually BBC Breaking News on Twitter.....

I'd've thought that was obvious, from the first line????

The earlier 400 msv/hour readings were reportedly made on the fourth floor of the #4 reactor (which is in the vicinity of where the fire was).

TEPCO will be refilling the spent fuel pool via helicopter, I'm expecting side by side photos of chernobyl, don't let me down!

Tepco says it may start pouring water from a helicopter over Fukushima Daiichi's reactor four in the next few days, to cool the spent-fuel pool.

BERLIN – Chancellor Angela Merkel says Germany will take seven of its 17 reactors offline for three months while the country reconsiders plans to extend the life of its nuclear power plants.

Merkel said Tuesday that Germany will temporarily shut down reactors that went into operation before the end of 1980, affecting seven reactors. The decision comes amid fears sparked by the crisis under way at Japan's tsunami-stricken nuclear power plant.

Germany makes an incredibly rational decision because they are also on the verge of a 9.0 earthquake and tsunami.

Wow. A child fell down some steps during that earthquake. We should eliminate all steps in the UK because of this.

About as sensible! I'm no big fan of nuclear plants but I'm not stupid enough to go around claiming they're unsafe.
