Yeap, nasty stuff, have family there that were on their way to the airport at the time. Luckily they were only about half way there and were all ok at last check.

Its difficult to comprehend the scale of this sort of thing for most Brits, as we simply don't suffer from natural disasters like this. Our earthquakes rarely hit 3.0, we get a bit of flooding sometimes but that's about it.

cheers. Hopefully we will be OK, have managed to escape all of everything that has happened down this part of the world so far..

Just makes you wonder though, if all this is just building up to something major in 2012!

    2004 earthquake/tsunami
    Haiti Earthquake
    Christchirch NZ earthquake *2
    Japan earthquake / tsunami

Im sure theres been more than that thats happened in the last 6 years that Ive forgotton about..

Unless it is changed which could of places like New Zealand are marine alert which means will not come in land but will be large/strong tidal waves etc.

Australian Bureau of Meteorology says there's no threat to Australia despite the alert. Let's hope they're right. Queensland and New Zealand don't need this on top of their other problems.

There is no scientific evidence to support that.
