Can someone recommend a decent home broadband provider?
I'm getting miffed by SKY as their service is rubbish where I live at the moment.
Personally I'm with O2 and have had zero problems in the last 2 years. Good speed too i live in the middle of nowhere and get 4Mb And its cheap
tbh ive never had any problems with virgin if you can get it in your area.
I'm not sure about Virgin's policies on snooping!
define best. speed, reliability, customer service, all of the above?
–adjective, superl. of good with better as compar.
of the highest quality, excellence, or standing: the best work; the best students.
most advantageous, suitable, or desirable: the best way.
largest; most: the best part of a day.
I'd just like a connection that I know isn't going to drop out several times in the evening. I guess customer services would help with that.
yeah fantastic, thanks for defining the word best. so you want to know which broadband provider is "the most advantageous or desirable"
instead, you could tell me what you are looking for in a provider as i previously asked.
do you want one with consistently high speeds, one with good customer support, one who has very little downtime?
Fast speed (at pretty much advertised speed too)
Reliable (cant remember the last down time)
Customer Service (can be rubbish, but use them very rarely)
Shocker! UK regulator finds average broadband speeds are 'less than half' those advertised -- Engadget

I've been with BT now for about 4 years. I've only had issues once during that time, and they were resolved by replacing their router with my own.
Plus, if you go with BT, you can then order BT Vision.
Had virgin for the best part of 8 years now in 3 different houses and it's always been brilliant
Virgin if the service in your area is reliable. Otherwise BE. There'd have to be a damn good reason for me to go with anyone else.
Be there as supported by http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/4...ards-2010.html customer service awards 2010. Get your phone line with them as well and you can save money over BT.

A few people have suggested BE to me now. I think I'll take a look at them.
