anyone with orange as an isp? did your connection drop out last night (11/03/07)? It hasn't happened a lot, but it's just a pain when you're trying to do some work.

There is a teacher here with Orange as his ISP. He recently called them because the wireless functionaility in that book-shaped piece of tat seems to have died.
Long story short, he was told that they would not support his wireless problem unless he was using one of their wireless adapters (I've seen one of these pieces of cr@p and they are certainly not worth the £30-odd that Orange want you to pay) instead of the inbuilt Intel chipset in his laptop!
I suspect that his broadband was working last night because he didn't have a further whinge today.

I use a netgear router, all cable, because for some reason when we had wireless, the DECT phones we have at home caused the signal to drop off when they rang. most inconvenient.
orange have told me that I should re install my tcp/ip.

Of course the fact that your home network of 50 computers works perfectly and they can all talk to each other must point to the TCP/IP stack on your Windows PC!Originally Posted by beeswax

service failed again last night. doesn't help when you're trying to do an online course.

Couple of people here have complained about orange recently. Not only the poor service, but also the apualing equipment they provide. Having not seen it I can't comment, but by the sounds of it it's the cheapest brand router they could get hold of re-branded as Orange. Not good!
Mike.

I don't use any of their equipment. I think it's time to look for another provider. I'm going to have to trawl through an awful lot of emails to see who to inform of changes though. I should imagine that inertia is what keeps half the customers from not moving.
I use the book shaped thing, because Orange provide you with an 0845 internet phone number.
For wireless though, I use my belkin router because the "live box" is more of a dead box.
I have never had a problem with my connection dieing, and I view it as important to have a reliable connection for my Uni coursework / research.
Thats my experience anyway!
