As I post this I'm aware a few others have posted about it before, but all the previous threads seemed to have gone off on a tangent.
http://uk.linkedin.com/
I've recently been suggested the site, but am struggling to find groups worth adding, or anyone worth adding as a network (I generally don't add people from work, or from the internet as email contacts as I keep my work, friends and internet life seperate.)
Anyone recommend some groups? There are too many in IT/education/recruitment to search it effectively without taking out a couple of days to do it.

1st February 2011, 02:26 PM #2 The EduGeek group for starters?
LinkedIn for me is a professional network (errr, like everyone else I hear you say!), so contacts that I 'meet' either in person or via online communication I like to add where possible.

1st February 2011, 02:52 PM #3 I created a LinkedIn profile as I was told it was worthwhile while job hunting..
Perhaps I didn't use it right - I didn't see any benefit..
I deleted my profile when one of the SMT here asked to be a contact..
..sorry but I just don't see the point of LinkedIn..

1st February 2011, 05:41 PM #4 I use it for more professional social networking rather than Facebook which is more keeping in touch with some suppliers and friends I've made here etc but I must admit I only go onto it about once or twice a month.

1st February 2011, 06:45 PM #6 Im not really sure how this works. They picked up some of my details and allot of them where totally wrong. But some correct.
I have no idea how they got this information.
I e-mailed them and they removed all my details from the site.

1st February 2011, 06:57 PM #7 It's been good for me, potential employers have seen my profile and... I think this has been positive for me.
I don't network, I use it to safeguard my name online - just in case anyone has a vendetta against me!

1st February 2011, 07:52 PM #8 Arrrr - thanks for reminding me of that. I was told by a recruitment firm to use this and as I am desperately trying to get out of my current position I must finish off sorting out my profile on it.
