    LinkedIn

As I post this I'm aware a few others have posted about it before, but all the previous threads seemed to have gone off on a tangent.

    http://uk.linkedin.com/

I've recently been suggested the site, but am struggling to find groups worth adding, or anyone worth adding as a network (I generally don't add people from work, or from the internet as email contacts as I keep my work, friends and internet life seperate.)

Anyone recommend some groups? There are too many in IT/education/recruitment to search it effectively without taking out a couple of days to do it.

    The EduGeek group for starters?

LinkedIn for me is a professional network (errr, like everyone else I hear you say!), so contacts that I 'meet' either in person or via online communication I like to add where possible.

I created a LinkedIn profile as I was told it was worthwhile while job hunting..

    Perhaps I didn't use it right - I didn't see any benefit..

I deleted my profile when one of the SMT here asked to be a contact..

..sorry but I just don't see the point of LinkedIn..

I use it for more professional social networking rather than Facebook which is more keeping in touch with some suppliers and friends I've made here etc but I must admit I only go onto it about once or twice a month.

I've got an account and have linked up with several members here and those who I have dealt with professionally in the past, but find little benefit of having an account.

Im not really sure how this works. They picked up some of my details and allot of them where totally wrong. But some correct.

I have no idea how they got this information.

I e-mailed them and they removed all my details from the site.

It's been good for me, potential employers have seen my profile and... I think this has been positive for me.

I don't network, I use it to safeguard my name online - just in case anyone has a vendetta against me!

Arrrr - thanks for reminding me of that. I was told by a recruitment firm to use this and as I am desperately trying to get out of my current position I must finish off sorting out my profile on it.

My soon to be ex employer is recruiting an IT tech and I think still a NM (not 100% sure on the NM one or its current state in employment).

PS. Is it really slow to load or just me & bethere?
