    Could give recuva a go?

Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download

remember to power off (not shut down) the machine asap, and slave the drive to another to do the recover.

ntfsundelete.com is good if it's a Windows Based thing ... my dad (an ex-tech himself so big facepalm) ran an uninstall script for something that basically ran del c:\*.* on his system. He managed to recover most of his stuff using it.

Like Domino said though, leave the machine turned off and slave the drive into another machine to do the recovery ..
