    Job of 45k+

I m under a pseudonym because I dont want my work to know!

I ve seen a good job for 45k but would you think they would consider someone in mid/ late 20s for such a role (Head of ICT)

I am a IT manager at moment but nto sure a company would give someone of my age a chance for that wage bracket

    If you're good, why not?

If your experience is up to their expectations you should be alright. ICT usually errs on the side of youth with the assumption that younger people will be more up to date. No harm in applying anyway even if the do not fit this pattern.

It's your experience and what you bring to the table that sets the remuneration.

If you really want it you will have to show them that you are confident that you have all of the qualities they are looking for if not more.
As an employer I would always favour experience over age regardless prove to me your able to deliver and the jobs as good as yours!

    It works for Alan Sugar....

    Firstly,
This forum isn't really for discussions, but just to post positions up. Salary discussions here are a definite no no.
I'll move this to the general forum, and i'm sure you'll get plenty of responses.

I will say, we have many many members who are around your age, and some doing extremely well for themselves. The age wont matter, it's the skills and experience that you take with you. If you can prove you carry yourself well, give a good impression, and can demonstrate that you have got what it takes, there should be nothing to stop you getting the job.

In fact, i would imagine companies expect younger people to take on very technical roles, though i have also seen some high level posts where they are demanding 10-15 years experience, that's quite often in security related positions though.

Is the job in education? That's a pretty nice salary if it is.

Go for the job, and good luck. You'll only find out what they really think when you go to interview and meet them.

Just double checking the rules, and job advert related discussions are allowed in the jobs forum if on a separate thread, but as this doesn't relate to a posted job, it is still better off here in General. Not to mention the fact the title looks like a job advert and is very tempting.

I don't suppose you care to share info on the job?

I cant exactly say where as it'll give my position up! but its a commercial job being in charge of several IT staff but obviously dealing with less people than staff/ students, which I currently do!

    Citrix desktops
    Sharepoint
    Citrix Xen server
    VOIP

I can manage that but I m worried about my age, worth a try! but alot of effort if they don't consider on age

If you're applying with a CV and cover letter, you are not required to put your DOB. If you fill in an application form and the DOB is required on the equal opps form they can't use this discriminate against you (based on the bits on the equal opps).

Put your experience, engineer your cover letter and cv/app form to the job requirements & apply, I wouldn't even worry about my age until I've got to an interview... if I get that far, I've done something right & it probably wouldn't be the main thing on the employers mind.

Just ensure your directly relevant experience is shown clearly

    Best of luck.

The only reason age should come into is purely down to experience. If you have the skills, the expertise, the ability to do the job, the qualifications (can be a deciding factor when being shortlisted or if down to the last two at interview) then go for it. You know you will be good at it and it is something you should try for.

The worst they can so is no ... and it is sometimes worth the experience of the interviewing process anyway.

Go for it! Forget the money aspect its all about the person, job needs, your skills etc. If you tick all those boxes they cannot ignore you just because your young.

I'd defefintely reccomend you go for it. Ageism works both ways! I'm 26 and 60% more than that - age is definitely a myth!
