    Egypt will be monitoring calls to that number and will be sending a few of the tough guys out to those that use it.

    i thought egypt took down most of the phone networks too?

    They did, not to mention that the phone networks connect to the same net connections as the landlines...

    That's not right. The ACCOLC was set in place for a short time in the area around Aldgate (1Km) to allow the emergency services access to the network, which had become heavily overloaded. The multi-agency debrief for 7/7 concluded that it was counterproductive to restrict public access to mobile networks, as we rely on them to reassure family etc. but that the public should be educated to keep it short or use text messaging in the vicinity of the emergency.
