How much is too much coffee?

The subject says it all really .. sat here drinking perhaps my 6th cup of coffee of the day (which includes the one I had before leaving home) and noticed on the back of my Tesco Fresh Coffee Pack (I do have some decent stuff, but I kept forgetting to bring it from home, so this gets me through with my little caffitiere! lol) that it says:

Relax and enjoy 4 to 5 cups a day

Drinking a cup of coffee is one of life's small but regular pleasures. It is reassuring to kow that moderate coffee consumption - of four to five cups a day - is perfectly safe for the general population and may have some benefits to your health
So I just thought I'd ask, how much coffee really is too much coffee?

    around 300mg for most people.

However, you do build a resistance after prolonged excessive consumption.

Gah, I was too busy worrying about the alcoholism and now this has creeped up on me.

I usually stop drinking coffee at about 11am, and 5 mugs isn't unusual.
