Hello to all edugeekers,
Where do you get your typical office copy paper from and how much are you paying per ream/per box?
I have been amazed recently at the price a lot of schools and colleges I deal with pay for their paper supplies. In fact amazed doesn't actually cover it. I am pretty sure that it is about as mundane as ordering gets, but please check out pricing from time to time you will be amazed at how much you can save!

27th January 2011, 03:43 PM #3 Indeed you do.....I take it everyone else is happy with current pricing.
Seems like a big waste each year to me..... and means less to spend on the worthwhile equipment. No wonder people moan about budgets! ha

I'd be interested to hear how you compare. We (well not me but repro) get in the paper by the pallet load, don't know exactly how many but would guess at least 40 boxes of the stuff every order and about 1 a month. Do you get it delievered or source locally and get them to deliver?
PM me if needed.

27th January 2011, 11:37 PM #5 Our local stationary supplier beats any prices from big suppliers and will deliver the same day as we place an order. Works really well for us.

30th January 2011, 03:17 PM #9 We have a couple of regular suppliers who I play off against each other to get the best paper I can as I find the cheaper stuff just jams printers constantly which is very annoying from our point of view.
Every time I find a good paper however it soon goes up in price so I keep an eye out for when its back on offer or a good price and then order 2 pallets of it. We get through about 3 pallets a term, but that has dropped a bit since we put in Print Management, so we only used 2 pallets last term which was great
So that was 40 boxes less.
The last lot I got I bought direct from the mill which was a good way of doing it, there area couple of firms now that work for the mills and just resell direct from them so you have no storage costs or anything put on which does bring the cost down a few pence a ream which on 40 boxes does help

30th January 2011, 03:21 PM #10 bout £1.40 per ream, and we buy boxes of 5 reams. We usually buy about 10 boxes a month, most of which is used by the art dept or admin office.

30th January 2011, 04:49 PM #11 Also something to remember is that copiers and printers don't really like having the make of paper changed if you've been using only one type for a while. We did this a while back, switching from a single regular supplier to random suppliers with whoever is cheapest getting the deal when we need some, and that change caused us to have to change a bunch of pickup rollers on machines all over the place. Our copiers definitely don't like it.
