Best comments you've heard in the Tech Office...?
Is there not a "General Discussion" section on this forum? Didn't see one so posted here.
We had a girl walk into the Tech Office that needed help with her PC laptop, she had no idea about computers at all!
To give an idea of how computer friend she was, we needed to install Firefox to try and figure her web issue. We told her we were installing another web browser. Her answer was, "There's another Internet? How do I connect to that one? (She only used the "E" icon ... IE Browser)
Also she asked why she can't get on the wireless at home.... there's internet at home but everyone has it locked "what would the password be? I tried 1-10, all 1's, all 9's etc without luck. How do I get that fixed?" ... our answer .... you don't !!!! You pay for it !!!!
The last comment I tried not to laugh! While still in the office waiting for Firefox to install she noticed a few different "Mac OS X" boxes on the shelf & she asked .... "The box with the big X on it, is that the user manual for Windows for girls?"
WOW.... just wow!!!

I had one from a chap in science...pulled a file down and burned to CD for him, for his missus. "Mate, you are my most favourite person in the school. Tonight, I'll be screaming out YOUR name"...
I do love our staff and their sense of humour.
That said, I just set up our sympodium and mics for a presentation for him, and as soon as he realised he had mics, PC control and AMX control of the theatre facilities, he set about winding up the video/theatre tech by turning the lights off, singing into the mic etc.
Video tech turn the volume down. Staff member looks at me, looks at the control marked "sound", whacks it up to full and shouts "Mr *video tech*, IS THIS BETTER? CAN YOU HEAR ME? I THINK I DID SOMETHING WRONG THERE.."....it fair shook the theatre..
I was behind the curtain, quite frankly laughing my backside off...the man is and always has been an out and out windup merchant. It's people like that who remind me that actually, this place can be ruddy hilarious and somewhat risky. His staff are giving presentations in there (he's a HOD BTW), and I can imagine he'll be winding up the screen, altering volumes and so on just to wind them up.
He's had a minor PC problem before and sent his entire class to our office for us to teach. In Jest, of course.
I have to say we share a sense of humour. A lot of the staff here have a similar one - I can't abide miserable and serious.

But I live much more than 20 miles from the BBC wireless transmitter and that works fine at home - why have you broken your school wireless :-)

Outside of work, but I was once asked to take a look at my mom's friend's PC, because it had stopped reading CD's.
Got there and the thing was chock full of viruses, I'm amazed it worked at all, so I started to talk her through why it's important to a) have AV software and b) keep it up to date when she says:
"I thought it might be a virus, so I put some antibiotics in it"
Have a guess where she had put the antibiotics?

My mum once moaned to my dad that he never let her help him on the crossword, she kept pestering him one day to ask her one, so he did.
Dad: Poisonous snake, 3 letters starting with A.
