I know its been asked before but we have just been offered a deal on a new printer/copier for the school to replace our small HP1015 mono laser and Xerox Phaser 6180 Colour laser. Been quoted at 0.049p per print mono and 4.9p per colour print (plus the quarterly lease fee). Are they good prices? According to my calculations based on actual prints done (19k B&W, 39k colour) and total costs of toner, we are at that breakeven point where benefits of a copier/printer over a colour laser printer come into play.
How much is the lease charge? You need to get a feel for the total cost per page; obviously, that goes down fractionally as you do more pages.
If it looks like being about the same price then it's worth doing - all the hassle of getting things fixed becomes "someone else's problem" (although you should try and get references from a comparable establishment so you can see how good they are at delivering consumables, dealing with repairs etc).
