My Dad's not gay! How dare you say something like that when you don't even know him!

Just because he likes the colour pink, and drinks martini's.....

Oh, and while we're on the subject it's mam, not mum or mom
You are all wrong. In our house it's...

    Amser brecwast
    Amser Egwyl
    Amser cinio
    Amser te
    Amser swper

As for parents it's Mami and Dadi

Grandparents are: Mamgu a Tadgu or Nain a Tad.

Please all speak proper like innit!!!

Oh and I'm a Compiwtaz teacher and if your post I live in Wailes (not Wales)

    breakfast,
    brunch,
    elevenses,
    lunch,
    afternoon tea,
    High Tea,
Dinner (5 courses of course; Appetizer, Starter, Main, Desert, Cheeses),
    supper,
    Late supper,
    midnight snack,
and of course all of these are intersected by periodic breakouts of munchies and snacks.

And of course, how can we leave out the hobnobs....

I tend to say Breakfast Lunch and Dinner.

I consider Tea (or High Tea if you want to go that way :P ) is when you have a cuppa and a cake, mid-afternoon.

TBH in these days of such convenience, half the time I don't think proper meal-terms apply anyway; I've seen people prepare what I would consider breakfast (cereal, toast and juice) at 1pm for lunch, some put a microwave meal in to have for lunch (which I would consider to be something to have for dinner), others go home and have cereal for dinner, or a snack...... to me, lunch involves a sandwich of some kind, otherwise it's not lunch! (Pasties are acceptable too :P )

Then there's my girlfriend who is in a league of her own as far as I'm concerned; eating last night's leftover pizza for breakfast.... I dunno how she does it, makes me feel ill

Breakfast, Lunch and Supper for me!

Although, before I met my OH, it was always lunch and dinner!!!

(It's her fault! I even call the front room, the drawing room now, in deference to her!!!)

Here's how the words get used in my house!

Middle of day: Lunch (if a light meal), Dinner (if a main meal)

Evening: Dinner (if a main meal), Tea (if a light meal)

In the run up to bedtime: Supper (but I don't snack late often)
