Our year 7s are all going out on our (very foggy) sports field, to do a re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings. I've got hordes of small barbarian warriors going past my office in homemade helmets, shields the size of the bearer or bigger, and swords ranging from the homemade, to a FunFayre special that lights up..
And us? We're filming it. Me with a handycam, video tech with the big BBC-esque camera, and others with departmental ones.

19th November 2010, 01:20 PM #3 I should point out that we're a secondary...heh. It's a good way to get the kids engaged in History though! It's one teachers idea too. Quite impressive, and it uses the entire Year 7, so it's no small undertaking.
Parents have been helping with the costumes. I'm sure a Jedi just went past..! Ah well, *grin*

19th November 2010, 05:05 PM #6 How cool is that idea. I'd love to see a few pics (distant is fine) of this to show our teachers.
The English Department organise a Book Day every year for the year 7's. So you have about 10 Harry Potter Characters and the same again or "a cat in the hat" or Wheres Wally. Good day though.

19th November 2010, 05:10 PM #7 Our Y7s were Roman soldiers last week. They were all given shields and wooden swords and taught how to march into battle and form a testudo. Great fun.
