That's 70p and they are now a long way from their high of 300p in 2008!

People have made a lot of money in shares, and I personally think it's a safer bet than the likes of horse racing (which in-laws throw £xx's away each and every week)

Shares are rated in pence usually so 70.25 would be 70 and a quarter pence.

I dabble a bit in spread betting which is a short term more accessible way into shares. Wouldn't say it was throwing money away if you are careful or even enjoy doing it & it is money you can afford to loose. I have lost some and had some fun (yeah I know, sad) researching and agonising over where to enter and exit a trade. It is obviously more fun when you come out on top. It is all about risk management and expectations. One trade dropped around £125 due to a rumour going around out of the blue but then made £120 (so made the 125 back plus another 120) once it came out as fake. Those are the annoying times as there is no accounting for it and no real way to protect.

Across a few systems I'm probably down a little but still learning the ropes so should pick up. Considering I know people that could quite easily drop £100+ on an evening or on a sport event then I consider it fair terms considering I could actually make money out of it. Heck, I made £11 before I started work!

People have lost lots of money in shares. :-)

When was the last time anyone on here bought a game from GAME?

Just before Christmas. I use Play.com usually, but if I'm at the Metro and they have something I like I'll get it from there.

    There's the rub.

As you say though, folk blow money left, right and centre on the GeeGee's and the footy, so as long as nobody is thinking of investing their life savings in GAME then best of luck.

Lordy !! Glad I didn't get any in the end.....
I have to say I'm surprised at the comment in regards to more people buying games on-line - does that mean downloading, or just purchasing on-line.
I only buy one game a year brand new - the rest are all second hand. I thought it would be the actual game makers suffering.

    Might not be too bad.

Companies like this tend to do well around signature releases and Xmas.

The next 3 months see's a new CoD, new BF, and several other large releases, and Game say they've got a new release set for every week of the next 2-3 months.

A short term investment might pay off, but long term these guys are going down.

After an initial drop, shares in the group rose by 3p to 25p, yet in the last year have lost more than 60pc of their value.

Their own fault. They could have done so much better, but they were too old fashioned. They had the ability, and the program, to do Steam before Steam. They didn't because it was a waste of time and digital downloads would never work.
Now, they're struggling to strike a deal to be a 3rd rate supplier that at best will close all it's dedicated stores and move into a corner of Comet or Waitrose. Or maybe Lidl. Big mistake in technology is refusing to move with the times and boy did they make that mistake.

Comet and Walmart are interested in buying them.
