If they're trying to keep everyone scared there would be much, much more effective ways to do it.

Its nothing to do with the raising the cost of printer cartridges...

Its freedom. Look at the anti terror laws they have brought in.

The next one I am expecting is the 'cyber terrorism' thing to hit, and knock the banking system out of line.

Exactly, you have to think big picture and see humans as "workers" and how can we control the population. The volcanic ash was another big hitter for me, the way they could just say, that's it we're stopping planes. full stop. we're on a tiny little island, if they wanted to pen us in it's so easy it's scary

In the USA you do now. You either have your body photographed naked in 3D or you have an extremely intimate search from the Security Officers.

If you have a mobile phone you can already be tracked.

There are much, much better ways to scare people than something like this which would also be easier for 'them' to organise.

I don't believe that either they're incompetent enough to use such a poor method, and simultaneously competent enough to keep a complete lockdown on any leaks or other flaws in the plan.

I know, which is why I have a cheap £10 phone at home and a handful of free SIM cards, just in case I need to be untraced for a while. I do also have a contract phone registered in my phone, and if I were doing anything where I'd want no possibility of being tracked that phone would either stay at home, or be loaned to a friend for a while.

You are aware that your phone records the last umpteen SIMS that have been inserted aren't you - so swapping SIMS doesn't make you particularly transparent

The £10 phone has never been used, so I'm not too concerned about that. The selection of SIM cards is mainly because I grab them whenever I get the chance, just in case they'll come in useful one day.

A daft question perhaps, but, how would the mobile phone SIM work in the air?

Interesting. The likes of o2 could learn a lot from these people!
