W3Schools Online Web Tutorials always has some fairly good tutorials to work through.
Im not working just now (visa crap) and am a bit bored of just going to the beach every day. Well not really, but its not very mentally stimulating.. Ive booked into a SCUBA diving course for a couple of days, giong to go get some surf lessons and stuff so that should pass some time, but I think it would probably be prudent to use this time to learn something new..
Cant really afford to do a full on MS course or anything, but is there any decent webpages, pdfs, or anything that will keep my mind learning that I could be reading?
(if you haven't already) learn a programming language?
Cheers, but Ive taken my web development skills as far as I really want to..
Although you have reminded me there are a few of my websites that could probably do with an overhaul
Although I would love to learn perl I guess. Ill go dig up that other thread about what language to learn Im sure someone started recently and see if theres any perl related links in there..
PS. My time off is only going to be about 6 weeks, so not sure if thats enough time to really get into a language?
Any thoughts on a project you'd like to do? Maybe something where it'd be convenient to learn a skill alongside?
Six weeks is plenty of time to learn a new language, particularly if it's more scripting than software dev. If you haven't before pay a visit to the Scripting guys at Microsoft Technet and look into Powershell. The Powershell games make a great little challenge to give an aim and learn at the same time.
Powershell is an awesome idea. Thanks

All the powershell I know, I learned off the Scripting Guys. Some very good tutorials.
* SharePoint Server Virtual Labs
* SharePoint Products and Technologies - Virtual Labs | TechNet
* SharePoint 2010 Developer Training Course | Courses | Learn | Channel 9
* http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en (Also goes with this *i think*)
* The "Sharepoint in Education" blog
Have a look at Past tests and related documents - Board of Studies NSW and then lol?
* Free Technology for Teachers: 100+ Free Textbooks from Open Culture talks about a site that released a whole pile of free textbooks, those might be interesting.

I just did a search for "SCUBA" to find my other thread, and stumbled back upon this..
I didnt do anything productive in the end
