I am looking for some feedback on a ICT Technician job i posted recently for my manager.
This is the job advert:
ICT Technician – Esher High School
There were a fair amount of views on the post but we only had a small amount of people apply so i was just wondering if you saw the advert, what your thoughts were, good or bad?
Thanks

23rd September 2010, 12:06 PM #2 Looks Ok but the payscales are a bit wide - pretty low at the bottom end of the main scale but then you could earn more as a trainee? Obvoiusly you cant do anything about that, unfortunately!
Other than that it looks fine - I especially like the fact that they can talk directly to a member of the IT team.
So maybe it was WHERE you put it rather than the job?

23rd September 2010, 02:06 PM #3 To me, I think your being too descriptive/selective for the role.
I came from literally that role (L3/4 Technician in a high school with RM CC3), and reading it, your looking for someone with experience in a similar field (technician/education), but your paying the same rates that 80-90% of them are already on.
To get someone for a Technician role at that level you ideally want to be recruiting a College person maybe with some youth working experience, rather than aiming for a qualified technician to move from one place to another. You can then train them the way you want.
The chances of an IT technician moving from one tech role to another with that experience are low, as the only good reason to do so is someone looking to work closer to home. There is little chance that they are on a LOWER salary with that level of experience...
