Havent heard any news, but what i have heard is that even if pay is increased, and this applies to a number of support roles throughout the school, the headteacher will not increase pay? it would seem that this is aimed mainly at direct council employees, not so much employees of a school? thats what ive heard!?!

What's Single Status?
First I've heard of it![]()

Single Status where they are reviewing the pay scales. It might not be happening to the council that you work for.
Oh I think they did that here, made no difference.

Ah right.. is this part of/another name for job evaluation?
Yes, they have already done that in Cumbria. But it wasn't just for ICT technicians, it was for any technician!!! Science, Technology, Reprographics, drama - you name it we were all bundled under the same hat. They just made up several levels of responsibility. The actual job descriptions were very general. Not what I would want to see if I were applying for a job.
Thankfully, I am in a foundation school and they don't have to follow the rules. I think for other schools, if the new salary fell below what was already being payed, schools had to cough up the extra cash from elsewhere to keep the level of pay.
Sounds like it.

I've just had to fill in a questionnaire for ours. Biggest load of crap ever written. Far too generic, far too many people had input to the questions by the sounds of it. It doesnt just apply to technicians, it is across the while LA, including bin men, social workers, etc...

These articles may be interesting. I've heard the following (not sure how true):
Salary will be protected for three years, in which time you would have to build job description up to justify salary.
In schools head will have final say as to your salary as ICT tech in one school may do more than others.
If you should be on more money you will get back payments
I'm hoping they just will say their salary gradings were correct all along (or that we're underpaid).
I'm not hoping they say we are all vastly overpaid, causing us to all look for new jobs or be offered pay rise to TUPE across to managed service from BSF...... more i think about it, are the timings just a coincidence.....
