Dept shrinkage

Hi there,

due to restructuring I have just found out that my dept will be going from x2 Full time person(s) (inc me) and x1 1/2 time person to x1 Full time and x1 1/2 time person. Bascially losing a full time person within the dept.

we are a school with 1000 pupils and 150 staff with 450 computers including laptops, desktops and laptops.

I like to know of anyone with similar setups/sizes how you manage your workload etc as I'm quite reliant on the current setup and want to minimise the impact as much as possible on the services we offer.

Halp, hints and advice as always is greatly appreciated.

Get an apprentice on NVQ lv3 pay them min wage (which is rather low for a school leaver, but they get good IT training). Worked for us.

Or have a university student in their sandwich year who are eager to learn and are pliable / adaptable to pretty much anything you throw at them. The down side is the loss of skills at the end of the year.
