Afternoon,
Just In Case anyone is using NOD 32 for there Anti-Virus and have noticed there systems crashing since the virus definition today, it is to do with something that is contained within that release. ESET are working to fix this in tomorrow update but if it does occur a HARD REBOOT will fix the problem.
It appears to only be affecting WindowsXP and Server 2003 Operating Systems.
James.

UPDATE: ESET have released a Fix but it still breaks it! Virus Definition 5419
ESET have recommended to turn off the updates for the time being.
James.
Thanks for the heads up, will be implementing the No Updates immediately.
Thanks for the heads up. So far had no issues with ESET today (touch wood)
I've changed the setting to Ask before update but the 2003 server already has 5419Will have to see in the morning if anything has happened to it.
Would explain a few things yesterday. Thanks for heads up
This morning I have all my servers down because of this stupid anti-virus. Is there any solution yet?

At the moment all that we have been told is to Hard Reboot the Computer/Server (hold power button down) LOL god knows why they said do it that way. and then power it back on and everything should be okay but to be honest my computer still crashed for a second time after that.
I'll be contacting them again this morning to see if they have any update, but they have not released another one as of yet
James.

UPDATE:
If after you have given your system a hard reboot the system still continues to behave, I have attached a tool which will restart the NOD Process which you can run.
I have attached it to this message,
James.

Its affecting Windows 7 too. I had several PCs freeze up yesterday afternoon and checking task manager ekrn.exe was using 100% cpu at the time of the lock up.

Yeah Windows 7 Is what we run here and it has happened.
James.
Same problems here.... workstations and servers are turning to normal status again
bio..
Same here...
We have been 'ground to a halt' by this.
Just changed this summer from Sophos to Eset !!
Ho hum!
