Okay then, I'm looking to upgrade the switches across the school a new core switch with a hell of a lot of fibre ports will be put in thats a given. However I am looking at the cost of GB to the desktop and the fully managed switches are expensive. I don't want unmanaged switches so the alternative is the smart switch sort of a half way house I've been lead to believe with things like port trunking, tree spanning and VLANs they offer enough for classroom labs I think.

    Any comments?
