    Recommend me a Laptop

Can anyone recommend me a laptop. It needs to be thin and lightweight (Vaio's were looking nice here), no more than £500 ex VAT (although cheapers ones will do too), and obviously as best spec as possible for that money.

I've found these two at Misco:

    Sony VAIO VPCEB1E0E/WI Notebook PC - Misco.co.uk

    Compaq 610 Notebook PC - Misco.co.uk

What do people think of these?

The compaq 610's are certainly thin and lightweight - Starting to wonder how long they'll last though, we've had 15 for teacher use for about 3 months and some touchpads are already showing wear and tear!

That's only got a 12" screen. I hate coding on my 10" laptop and 12" can't be much better. Looking for at least 15" I would think. Looking more and more like the Vaio

I've found a few dells/HPs with i3 processors (i'm looking for a laptop myself) with 4gb ram and 320/500gb hdds for around £499. The dell is the inspiron 1564 and i've forgotten the HP model no (it started with G62 though).

However, i'm not sure if they are thin or lightweight though

Didn't offend. Just failed to see the funny side. Maybe because it wasn't funny.

Have you looked at the Dell outlet - I followed a recommendation on here and got a cracking deal for my son on a lovely quad-core beast for about £470

Dell Outlet as in second hand refurbished equipment? Is there any downside to that?

Didn't look second hand. Didnt look refurbished. Even had plastic on screen and keys.
Still comes with one year guarantee

Take a look at Dell Special Offers, Cheapest Deals, E-Value Codes and Discount Coupons | dmXdimension for dell deals as well.

Also thanks for the recommendation about the dell outlet.

I've brought from the outlet before, they are normally PC/Laptops that go through the build process and are then cancelled before dispatch. On occasion they are returned items but they usually state that in the description.
