Hello all,
We currently use a system in the school which reads a chip inside a PVC card (Smart Card) (54x86). The system card readers are provided by CRB Solutions (Link)
The company we use to supply us the smart PVC cards have seemingly closed down and we are now struggling to source a replacement supplier.
Does anyone on here happen to order (or know where their school order) their smart cards from (if you use them)?
We don't really want to upgrade the full system just yet to something like biometric due to budget cuts etc...
Many thanks

I'll take a look there and contact them to see if they can provide a sample card to test.
Thank you very much

30th June 2010, 01:27 PM #5 Hi Ben,
Contactless rfid cards I believe. They aren't chip and pin style. They go into a slot for students to put money on, but they don't contact anything, as if you open the machine you can swipe the card across the area which holds the card and it picks up... and then they are swiped across a reader when paying.

30th June 2010, 01:45 PM #6 That would be RFID, they have that slot just to ensure the card stays within the the correct area so the connection isn't broken, since they are powered by the magnetic waves and such from when the card touches.

30th June 2010, 01:51 PM #7 What type of RFID cards are they? There are a whole host of standards for them - Mifare, about half a dozen standards of 'HiTag', EM4102 etc... Not to mention different frequencies (125khz, 13.6Mhz, 860Mhz and 960Mhz) etc...
