looks like your on old yellow zigzags but as theyre eroded so much i would appeal, take lots of photos of the road showing how badly faded the yellow line is, i beilve if its bad enough and the line is broken, they cannot enforce it.

It was a zig zig line millions of years ago! but the council has never repainted it, there is no signs up or anything like that. yes it is in front of the school but i have been at this school for 2.5 years and no has been done over until now

so that's looking at the back of your car in that last photo you've posted?
From wht i've read (here - Fight your parking ticket - how to appeal your fine | This is Money and Parking Ticket Appeals: Fight unfair council parking tickets...) road signs and marking MUST be visible - if they are obstructed or not clearly visible then you can appeal
But I would confirm this first...

I had a successful appeal against parking on double yellow lines that had not been repainted after the road had been dug up. The responsibility to maintain the road markings to an acceptable standard lies with the local authority. The standard approach is to issue a fine and wait to see if the person appeals. If they don't appeal then the LA is the winner and many peopl eare to unsure of their rights to actually go through with an appeal

Appeal, there's reams of legislation about how signs and roadmarkings must be displayed. Even down the the width of the paint stroke, if anything isn't right the ticket should not stand.

the only sign is this one
you'll get out of this easy. Most objections to parking tickets go our way (over 90% i think someone on the radio said, might have been Martyn of money saving expert.)

Could it be that the attendant saw the tail end of the 'crocodile teeth' and assumed they went all along underneath your car? I don't imagine many to get down on their hands and knees to check.

The problem you have is that since you work at the school you are aware that there is a school entrance nearby (or a former school entrance) and the highway codes states:
243 : DO NOT stop or park
- near a school entrance
They could rightly say that you were aware of the issue in spite of the improper road markings ... if they can show that there is a risk with you being parked there then it makes the appeal more difficult. Of course, if you are not successful then take the council to court for failure to keep the road markings clear, resulting in you receiving a fine.
I’m sure you’ll be able to contest it successfully.
As an alternative defence (though probably too late now unless you know a friendly local garage or car parts place) you are, of course, allowed to break down anywhere at all; All you have to do is prove it – and a receipt for anything will cover that.
