Do you thinkg IPlayer is going to work next Wednesday?

Do you personally believe that streaming is going to work for the 3pm Eng-Slo match?

My vote is that there is no way T'internet/BBC/RBC will handle the load.

We got asked to stream it here, I said "no chance, it won't work", so will be rigging a HDRecorder/TV tuner through the gym projector.

I found ITV player crashing out constantly during the opening ceremony and first game last Friday. However I seem to get more problems with ITV Player than iPlayer so maybe it will cope. I'm trying to think of a similar event/programme being broadcast viewer wise and there has probably been nothing of this size to date

iPlayer is a lot more stable and gives me more confidence than ITV's player, but it is still an unprecendented event in terms of viewers and start time so I would be amazed if it worked smoothly for everyone.

    Got freeview boxes here

The beeb site seems a bit more unreliable than the ITV site, which is ususual, especially since yesterday. Could get sound but no visual.

Anyone remember that internet-only england game late last year? I had family/friends over to watch that, and it was a very solid and reliable stream. No hiccups or problems the entire game.

But on this topic, anyone found a decent way of getting a good reception in the school?

I bought one of those indoor boosted aerials the other day for home, one that supposedly supports HD freeview and everything. I couldn't even get a terrestrial TV signal watchable at all, it was awful.
Buy Amplified One For All HD Indoor Aerial. at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for .
Is what I bought, which is basically meant to be the best indoor aerial that I could buy at the time.

It wont work, I tried to watch the Italy game at school, kick off 3pm, i couldnt see any of the match, although another game that kicked off at 12.30 was fine.
I have rigged up a freeview box to the main hall projector, used the smallest ariel in the world and got the best picture, better than at home. I will bring in a better ariel for Wednesday anyway.

I'm quietly confident that t'internet WILL be able to cope, and that the BBC will be fine!

That said, I'm ever the optimist, and still think England can win the thing!!!

Apparently the BBC were having issues with the special stream yesterday that had Chris Moyles doing an "alternative" commentary. But that was probably hosted in a very different way to the main feed.

Second that. The BBC streaming service will work I'm certain. If not I'll eat my nice new coyboy hat I had for my birthday!

Are you seriously asking us to predict whether LancsNGfL will be fully operational?
