We have a fully functional TV aerial on the roof with freeview box connected to the projector in the main hall, so that's how we're going to show it here.

I'm also capturing that output and streaming it over the network using VLC media player - should work a treat, although the lag is a few seconds on the streaming side.

Shown on BBC next Wednesday - Freeview rocks, it works and I will be streaming BBC Iplayer at same time, (just in case!)

watching the Chile Honduras match atm on ITV live (got permission to test it ready for next week) and not impressed. Quality is exceedingly poor, stuttering frequently, losing the video stream frequently, too much other junk on the screen too.
Will be going to find a freeview box and test my aerial tonight methinks.

So far, via through testing (cough) I have concluded the following -

ITV is pants, dont rely on it for anything
iPlayer has been hit and miss
TVCatchup has been the jewel in the crown and only given me some buffering every now and again.

The issues have been down to, im guessing, the bandwidth of our LEA connection and not the iPlayer/TVC servers. I hope my hours of testing provide useful to you all

I think as its the first event of its kind in this country, there is no way on this earth that the infrastructure (at many points) will cope with the demand and we could actually see the internet equivalent of an electric brownout next wed pm!

Is the bbc player not working for everyone else? No sound, no video. Just plays.

BBC iPlayer is working as usual for me plays but constantly buffering or cutting out completely and needing a refresh.

Thanks for the TVcatchup recommendation just put ITV player on and I've got an excellent stream of ITV showing Dickinson's Real Deal. If I get half as good a feed for football on ITV the kids will be happy

    *UPDATE*

Well, we're just into the second half, and I can report that there has been very little to trouble TVCatchup.

However, either Alan Shearer is losing his hair much faster than first anticipated, or the pixelation was getting worse!!!
