60 support staff
150 staff laptops (network point at front of every classroom)
All the rest of the daily shi*e thrown at us
ME and 2 techs (one of whom is useless)
No sign of anyone else staring, and what do BECTA quote? 1 per 200 clients or something?
*1 windows server (about to add another linux server)
*1 IT Manager (myself)
*1 Facilities Manager (my supervisor, who does a little computer work when he has time)
We are also responsible for the copy machine, laminator, tvs, cd players, sound systems, theater lighting system, website, keycard system, intrusion and fire alarm system (only basic maintenance, like cleaning and testing, luckily), the phone system, and CCTV.

also responsible for projectors and other equipment.
For what it's worth...
It depends on the school, the equipment in use, the level of training and processes in place and budgets.
I know of one school where they have 350 Desktops, 175 laptops and 14 servers with all the interactive whiteboards etc and just 2 techies.
They also support their primaries.
BUT the techies are happy with the workload because
1) it is a relatively small campus - therefore easy to get to places
2) The techies are well trained and have spare kit to 'play with' rather than the live network
3) Teaching staff have a good level of technical ability through a comprehensive CPD programme
4) The equipment is well specified and backed up with on-site warranties
I know another school with 700 machines and 6 techies who are run ragged - not because the training is not there, but because the kit is dieing and the teaching staff have not the same technical understanding.
I guess what I am trying to say here is that each case is different and it is very difficult to generalise

we are about 350 machines (PC/MAC) including laptops,
AV kit in every room(which we install),
mobile AV kit
IWB's (we install),
100ish phones inc VOIP, VM and AA,
5 signage screens,
LAN/WLAN sitewide which we install,
staff training and all the other usual stuff plus a lot of staff that need lots of help!
1 NM, 1 me and 1 part time techie

We also support the Primary School,
700 Students, 40+ Staff
100 PCs + Staff Laptops
3 in the team.

Only just saw this thread. This is how things are with me:
Workstations and laptops: 220 (with another fifty arriving before september)
IWB + Projector: 8
And it's just me. It's a good thing that I'm so laid back, or I'd be off on stress, I'm sure.
Up to the point when we had about 300 machines (the first 7 years), there was just me. Then we got another tech with responsibility for the admin network. A year later another tech for looking after laptops. A couple of years later another tech for doing the basic stuff and a "guru" / manager.
So there were 5 of us, looking after:
100 staff laptops
100 student laptops
70 interactive whiteboards
wireless over both sites (two different types)
setups for assemblies and events
a training room with video cameras and mics.
Then the "guru" / manager left and didn't get replaced (the admin tech was given more money to become the manager). Now the admin tech's leaving and it doesn't look like they'll replace him. So we'll be down to 3 staff with the same amount of kit / people to look after.
The job descriptions are so vague that they'll probably try to get us to do the admin tech's job as well as our own - not that there are enough hours in the day to do that. I've seen two guys with less experience and less technical ability take the manager's role, so it's probably time to go for it myself!

About 300 machines (including staff laptops etc). About 6 physical servers, but with 6 VM's on one of them (for email, Moodle, SIMS for parents etc etc). Around 40 whiteboards and projectors, and then anything else with a plug on.
There's the ICT Developments Manager who doesn't really get her hands dirty and focuses on SIMS.net and paperwork etc. Then there's me who will do toners/mice to writing bespoke software etc, and we have another tech who is half time at primaries.
So all in all there's 1.5 of us.
1400 users (about 100 at feeder primaries who use our VLE)
250 desktop computers
60 interactive whiteboards
+ 200 Thin clients and 13 servers for that system which we may have to contact the suppliers about if it is outside of our area of expertise.
1 NM & 1 Tech
2/3 servers (one decommed awaiting rebuilding and finding a new life/role)
90 total workstations+laptops
22 IWB + Projectors
Just little old me Should be getting a bunch of new netbooks in the near future, but no idea on how many or when due to budget stuff.
