Well, I just remebered that as of yesterday I have been gainfully employed in various posts within IT for 10 years, but what struck me (on reflection) is how far things have come, and how over the years many little niggly horrible aspects of IT have been either made better, or replaced with even greater niggly things.
So below are a few things that we had common place 10 years ago, but have now thankfully all but disappeared.
15" CRT Screens
15" CRT screen covers (remember them!)
Mice with balls in
Hubs
10Mbps network cards
Low end Celeron processors as standard in school PCs
New PCs still being supplied with 32MB RAM (Viglen, I'm looking at you here!)
Have I left anything off?

19th May 2010, 02:55 PM #4 I was going to write floppy drives but then remembered we still use them here even if they do have to be through an external drive

19th May 2010, 02:58 PM #5 It's just a shame we still come across the odd member of staff using Publisher 97 and other software that was designed to run on the mighty Windows 95. "What do you mean it won't run on my new laptop"

19th May 2010, 03:01 PM #8 modems, but wait until you have done almost 40 years & then you will remember things like paper tape, punched cards, teletypes, green screens, computers as big as a room, with lots of flashing lights and 4mb memory.
I feel old....

I didn't mind NT4.0, especially when we had 95 on the desktops!
Again, on new PC's supplied in 2000 from Viglen.
