    Good morning,

It's 8:50 and a new dawn, both for today and for the Edugeek site. The sun is out on both!

Change is always risky but congratulations to all those involved. Nobody likes change especially without a period of trial first. I like it - but do agree with HT that some features will be missed. Yes I know they are coming back - so it isn't a problem.

I'll take a good look around when I get into work later (yes a teacher in school over Easter!!).

Good luck and I hope the new design brings even more EduGeekers to the party.

    Gareth

Once we have ironed out the bugs and got the old modules working again (top 10 posts, eye spy etc) we can begin work in earnest.
I understand where you are going with this - but I'm just stating my opinion. If I'm perfectly honest the new theme gives me a bit of a headache to look at. It hurts my eyes.

Maybe if the forum part of the site could have a 'modular' theme similar to the old one that would keep me happy?

It was the iSpy feature in the header, with the rolling view of every post made in real time.

There are more themes (colour schemes) at the bottom of the page, I know it's not exactly what you are after but you will find one that is easier on the eyes!
On another note, one plan we have is to provide 'how to' sheets. We will rpovide a document template that you can download and fill in the step by step instuctions of any task (including screen shots\photos). These documents will be tagged with the relevant area of technical interest and linked to those forums. Anoyone completeing 5 documents will be granted 'EduGeek Writer' status. Your sheets will carry your name as author and, again, be free of charge for members. We think that this system is better than the wiki as it allows for a permanent copy to be retained by members. Hopefully thsi system willbe ready to roll within the month.

iSpy will be added back soon. Right now we are running a *light* vbulletin 4 to allow for potential issues to be discovered without adding all the extras that could cause issues.
Also there are a few new tabs to come.

dos_box, perhaps I could code up a plugin to show people who the admins / moderators / sponsors are? (faster than looking at the memberlist!)

All I can say is, enjoy that stylevar system, or have they actually implemented a proper one and given you a final product now? Last I checked, it was this shoddy placeholder tool.

Oh, and yeah, well done on the move guys, I know from experience how painful the vB3 to vB4 upgrade is, and the board I did it on was a fair bit less active (though unusually, only 100,000 less posts...?)

Shaun had to re-write all the templatese. VB 4.0 is CSS based and VB 3.0 wasn't. It took him quite a while!

Bet he loved how they changed all the template variables to this dodgy {vb.whatever something} system instead of $ vars.
