I hope you've got plenty of money as there will be new legislation coming into force soon which will virtually outlaw four wheel drive vehicles off the road by way of road tax hikes which will be massive and only the rich and the daft will be able to run them (which one are you).

Empty mountain roads? Try South Africa, the Maluti range or the Drakensbergs. I did 400Km in a morning last month and probably saw a dozen cars, outside the towns.

I bought a 53 plate Astra 1.7 CDTi in January, 85k, £650. Bargain!
Oh, and carrying on from the 'Pet Hates' thread, Dossy has called this thread brought instead of bought

It's a great place to drive, except for the potholes. One thing I noticed was, no sunroofs and no rear washer/wipers.

One of the reasons I wanted one is the reliability. The tax is quite minimal and a gas conversion lowers it further IIRC. Anyway, it's a top spec car for pocket money prices, and as I'm such an old git I won't hack off the youngsters by telling you how much I pay for a years insurance (oh, alright I will, it's £260 fully comp).
