    Just bought a new car

    Well, I'm 40 in a week or so's time so I though I'd best get something nice. After several weeks of watching Autotrader one came up.
    A Lexus RX300. It's an immaculate 2002 Model with only 40k on the clock, a full Lexus service history and leather interior. For £5000
    Now all that remains is to get the Parrot MKi9200 fitted so I can have Bluetooth and iPod connectivity and a gas conversion. I hopefully pick it up in a weeks time.
    It was a real Chelsea tractor too, from Chelsea. Looks like it had never left inner London! Time to introduce it to the Pennines and Cumbria I think

    @Dos_Box:

    I hope you've got plenty of money as there will be new legislation coming into force soon which will virtually outlaw four wheel drive vehicles off the road by way of road tax hikes which will be massive and only the rich and the daft will be able to run them (which one are you).

    I have one of these in my car and the voice recognition is really not as good as it could be but everything else works fine

    Empty mountain roads? Try South Africa, the Maluti range or the Drakensbergs. I did 400Km in a morning last month and probably saw a dozen cars, outside the towns.

    Looks like 'God' doesn't give two thoughts about the environment then..... mind you, you have to be 'God' to stop one of the damn things when the breaks fail.

    I bought a 53 plate Astra 1.7 CDTi in January, 85k, £650. Bargain!

    Oh, and carrying on from the 'Pet Hates' thread, Dossy has called this thread brought instead of bought

    The road tax is okay if your car is reg'ed before March 2004 as the max bracket is K then.

    It's a great place to drive, except for the potholes. One thing I noticed was, no sunroofs and no rear washer/wipers.

    One of the reasons I wanted one is the reliability. The tax is quite minimal and a gas conversion lowers it further IIRC. Anyway, it's a top spec car for pocket money prices, and as I'm such an old git I won't hack off the youngsters by telling you how much I pay for a years insurance (oh, alright I will, it's £260 fully comp).
