IT questions to ask at a Deputy Head interview

Our school is interviewing for a new deputy head and I am on the panel.

I have a couple of very generic questions to ask, but wondered of anyone else had any ideas?

    Mine are...

How do you see IT changing education in the future?

Can you give an example where you have used IT to enhance learning?

    Thanks

Do you think IT Teachers have enough training to be able to deliver the subject professionally?

What method do you believe should be followed for the purchasing of ICT equipment/software?

This way - you can check if they understand that compatability often needs to checked and not everything is fit fro purpose out of the box.

What are your views on replacement plans for ICT equipment?

To check if they understand old kit impacts of teaching & learning.

    and,

What is the carrying capacity of an unladen swallow?

If they can't answer that one they don't deserve the post...

Do you think that teachers in general are given enough training on how to use interactive whiteboards and various programs (that you use)?

If yes then - how would you ensure that they keep up to date with said training?
If no then - how would you remedy that situation?

how many black flahsy boxes did your last your last schools internet have? where any of them drawing a pretty picture on a white touchy thing?

Do you feel that system vandalism (intentionally going around system security) warrants the same punishments as physical vandalism to school property

How do you think successful ICT looks in a school and what do you do in your current post to make that vision come true?

What are your favourite biscuits and why?

Within IT what do you think the most important innovation will be in schools within the next 5 years?

I used this question for our IT tech interview

This is a deputy head though, not an IT tech. Depending on his proposed role within the school (pastoral/academic) the questions maybe need to be aimed a bit higher. I would ask "Do you know how to turn a computer on?" since both of our deputy heads clearly don't.

Are we talking a "regular" Deputy Head, or one with specific focus on the IT?

A regular DH. No IT focus to start off with so I can't ask any too in depth questions or ask them to give me the make of computer just by giving them a mac address!

I'd pitch this one at a slightly higher level and ask "How would you encourage and enable teachers to incorporate technology into their teaching?".

I have issues with the reliance on IWBs as the fix for everything, so this would be a slightly loaded question, designed to see whether they understand that technology needs to support the learning. Too often initiatives to encourage the use of technology can be about shoehorning using $latest_new_toy (VLEs, IWBs etc) into teaching rather than their use being pedagogy led.
