They introduced an 'invites only' system a while back. So only those who are in can invite others.

Invites are made available to users who pay for a subscription.

11th March 2010, 10:52 AM #11 Indeed - the Beta was invite, and the origional service was invite only. Users who signed up then got ten more invites without having to pay. Then they opened it up to anyone, it got popular, so they restricted it again, so users with invites now are premium users (no ads, and the ability to use mobile clients) and peopel who had invites left over from the origional incarnation.
I'm rather tempted by premium as aparently it will cache songs on your iPhone (and probably other deivces) and let you listen when you've no net connection - need to look into this a little bit though!

Yep. There's also an Android app which caches. I use it all the time. For £9.99 a month, its a bargain really!
Note - i've now got 4 invites left.
