Two Threads On Teacher Chat Forums TESConnect

Thread 1: Tories would allow teachers to fire heads

Thread 2: Things supply teachers hate about class teachers

    About thread 1:

I haven't seen anything about this in the news.
Can this be real Tory policy?
If it is what about Support Staff having a say too?
    How would it work?

Hmm, unless they are also going to remove HT's employment rights, I think you'll find you can't simply sack them because you don't like them, they have to be failing to do their job - and there's already mechanisms in place for that. Whether they're implemented competently or not . . . . that's the issue.

i think this particular comment could constitute 'in the real world'...

A massive paycut at a time the government would be looking at our tax bracket to repair the recession?
....if i knew what the bit highlighted actually meant. What d'ya reckon ?

I quite like the firing the head one, so long as they allow support staff to do it as well, and its got to be via a secret voting system, I can think of a few people who would enjoy that style of system

Sounds to me like someone isn't happy with their current head teacher

I have had problems in the past with Headteachers: I had to leave a previous job because I felt that a Head at one of the schools at one of the schools I was supporting at the time was doing such an awful job [other factors came into play too but that was a major contributor]

I like this quote from the thread about what supply teachers hate:

The password is written on the laptop
This reply was from a teacher trying to shoot the OP down - but all it does is show how incompetent they are!

What's the point? It's the same here.

So, it isn't just IT Technicians and Network Managers that the teachers on that site dislike then... Its each other, heads and supply teachers.

    What a lovely friendly atmosphere.

It's typical TES garbage. This proposed policy is only applicable to co-operative schools, which don't even exist yet. You wouldn't know it from the article though.
